Properties of Arithmetic Mean
Following are the properties of arithmetic meanĀ
- Mean of constant number is the constant.
- The sum of the deviations of a set of values from their arithmetic man is always equal to zero.
- The sum of the squares of deviations of a set of values from their mean is minimum.
- If a constant value is added or subtracted (change of origin) to each value of a set of data, the arithmetic mean will also be added or subtracted by the same constant.
- If a constant value is multiply or divide (change of scale) to each value of a set of data, the arithmetic mean will also be multiply or divide by the same constant.
